Several years ago I was working on a sales floor where we received leads each week and called them all day long trying to make sales.
I put in long hours and experienced many ups and downs. My best week ever was just over $4,000, but there were many weeks where I made $0.
One day I got a phone call from a man in town that ran a smaller sales floor. He said he had the Best Sales System. A system that would have my best previous week be my average week, and no more weeks hitting zero sales volume.
He said I would be blown away with his 2 Secret Tricks that…
allowed him to take 3 sales reps and produce almost half of the sales volume as our sales floor of 60 sales reps.
The man said that 2 of his sales reps were going to be out of town the next day and they needed someone to take their appointments. I agreed to help him out.
I showed up the next day and saw that they had put 11 appointments on my schedule.
I called my first appointment and went through the short presentation script. I was wrapping up the details of the close within 20 minutes. I put the client on hold and transferred him to the secretary to process the details.
My commissions were just over $200 for that call. I started thinking that maybe this guy was right about having the Best Sales System.
I got a drink from the water cooler and went back to dial up my next appointment. Same result!
I repeated this process throughout the day with my 11 appointments.
One of my appointments did not answer, so I called my last appointment early. I made 10 sales with 11 leads in 5 hours and earned personal commissions of over $2,000 that day!

Needless to say, I left the other sales job for this new place. I watched my income grow to where I was averaging close to $4,000 every week with my best week just over $7,000.
I wasted 6 years doing sales the hard way.
I do not share this story to make me look good because I was obviously doing it wrong for several years. I share this story to show you the power in having the best sales system in place.
These principles will work just as well for any home based business as they will for a professional sales organization.
Here is what I learned about how this new place did things differently.
1. All sales calls were from leads where the prospects were existing customers. We knew the prospects were excellent candidates for our services because they had already proven it by making a previous purchase.

2. All sales calls were by appointment only. Appointment setters would schedule a 30 minute window for the client, and told them to have a paper and pencil ready with internet connection available if possible. This was invaluable as a time saver for sales reps, but it did something even more important.
Having an appointment positioned the sales rep as an expert consultant. It put the prospect in a different mindset where they were ready to learn and be open-minded to the presentation. Sales resistance was all but eliminated, and the decision to buy seemed a natural flow of the consultation.
How can this information apply to you?
1. Find ways to spend more of your time working with prospects that are existing customers. They can be your customers, or you can piggy-back off of the credibility of someone else and work with their existing customers.
2. Use the appointment setting technique. You can hire an appointment setter, or have a partner or spouse do the job. You might make an agreement with a co-worker or team-mate where you share leads and set appointments for each other.

Totally dead on. Traditional businesses know that it’s easier and less expensive to keep the customers you already have than it is to go and find new customers.
We can apply that to Network Marketing as well, and we should, since this industry is founded off of word of mouth advertising by talking to people that already know and trust us.
Your point about piggy-backing is something I’ve been stressing lately. Just because someone isn’t interested it doesn’t mean that they don’t know someone else who might be. Best way I’ve found to ask for referrals when someone says they’re not interested: “That’s ok, do you know anyone who HAS been effected by the economy that is looking to add extra income every month?”
(Also makes them think again and say “heyyy, I’VE been effected by the economy!”)

Of course I’m REALLY bad at being an appointment setter, as you know.
LOL!
But I love the first tip about focusing on exisiting customers. When I learned about sales funnels and actually set one up through MLSP the results were amazing. Plus you know that you haven’t completely wasted your time when they say no to your business because you already made a commission off of them.
